MORE big names from the worlds of music and literature have been added to the bill for this year’s Fringe by the Sea festival.
Scottish rockers Del Amitri, whose hits include Kiss This Thing Goodbye and Always The Last To Know, will appear at the summer festival on Saturday, August 3. The Glasgow band, who formed in 1980, have sold seven million albums.
Also playing at Fringe by the Sea, North Berwick, will be British punk rock icons The Stranglers; formed in 1974, their appearance will mark their 50th anniversary.
The legendary band, whose hits include Golden Brown, Peaches and No More Heroes, will hit the stage on Tuesday, August 6.

Best-selling author, broadcaster and journalist Caitlin Moran will entertain with her frank, fearless and funny views on all things men and women on Sunday, August 4. Caitlin’s books include How To Be A Woman, More Than A Woman and her latest, What About Men?
Appearing on August 3 will be woodsman, author and TV presenter Ray Mears, who will share his love and knowledge of bushcraft and survival in the wilderness with an enthralled audience.
Festival family favourite The Singing Kettle will be asking “spout, handle, lid of metal, what’s inside the Singing Kettle?” on Thursday, August 8. Dress up in your favourite colour and bring your granny – she won’t be shoved aff the bus!

Rory Steel, festival director, said: “This year’s programme is already looking incredible, with Del Amitri, The Stranglers, Clive Myrie, Caitlin Moran and The Jacksons, as well as The Singing Kettle.
“We go all the way when it comes to putting together a festival with something for everyone.
“As always, it’s a big team and community effort to make it all happen and we’re hugely grateful to North Berwick Trust for supporting us once again as master partner, helping us create connections in the community through our diverse programme of culture and arts.”
The festival will be based in North Berwick’s Lodge Grounds from August 2 to 11, with the final programme of all events available in June.
Already announced as appearing at Fringe by the Sea are The Jacksons, Hot Chip DJ set (with Hayley Zalassi), Richard E Grant, Trash Test Dummies Circus, Clive Myrie, Horrible Histories – Rotten Royals, and House Gospel Choir.
