PLANS for housing and “a small local centre with space for community facilities” in Whitecraig will be revealed later this month.

Early proposals for land west of the village’s primary school and Carberry Court will be unveiled at two events over the coming weeks.

Councillors representing Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry, as well as the neighbouring Musselburgh ward, have been alerted to the plans by Bellway Homes.

Community councillors in Whitecraig and Musselburgh have also been made aware of the proposals.

No details are given about the number of homes planned for the site. But when the land was highlighted as a potential site for housing in the Local Development Plan, it was suggested 300 homes could be built there.

Drop-in exhibitions are planned for Whitecraig Village Hub on March 20 and April 23.

Both exhibitions run from 2pm to 7pm.
