A NOISE monitor has been installed in a village holiday let in a bid to ensure neighbours are not disturbed.

A short-term holiday let has operated from the four-bedroom flat on Gullane’s Brighton Terrace for about 18 months.

Now Joe Avent has applied to East Lothian Council to allow the change of use to remain in place.

Documents with the certificate of lawfulness application highlight steps taken to ensure those using the second-floor property do not disturb others in the building.

A supporting statement reads: “Access to the property is through a shared entrance on the ground floor, with no special access requirements.

“Guests proceed to the top floor, passing the first-floor door, where an Igloohome smart lock is installed.

“Guests receive a code to enter the property, either through booking platforms or directly from the owners’ website.

“Clear communication is provided to guests regarding noise levels and respect for neighbours.

“Additionally, a Minut noise monitor has been installed in the property to ensure adherence to these guidelines.”

The property has been available for let since the end of July 2022.

During that time, the property has had an average of 17 bookings per year. Stays range from three to 28 days, with an average of five days.

The document notes that the flat has catered for golfers, families and groups attending local weddings.

The supporting statement stresses that the property “strives for a comfortable and enjoyable experience for its guests within a well-managed and maintained environment”.

A decision on the application is expected by the middle of next month.
