A MAJOR supermarket chain is set to open a new store at the heart of an expanding village.
Permission is already in place for a convenience store, mixed use units and NHS facility in Wallyford.
Previous applications have been lodged by East Lothian Developments Limited.
However, the latest application, which is for the installation of a cash machine, lighting and camera to previously approved plans, is from Tesco.
Drawings included with the latest application also feature the supermarket’s name and logo.
The supermarket is planned for between Wallyford Primary School and the neighbouring Rosehill High School, off Futures Way.
The Courier has contacted Tesco, which has stores in Musselburgh, Haddington and North Berwick, for comment.
It is unclear when the store could open or how many jobs could be created.
