A SALARY of nearly £100,000 per year is being offered to attract Dunbar Grammar School’s new headteacher.
Claire Slowther relinquishes the post at the end of the school year in June.
It was confirmed before Christmas that she would be taking on the role of head of the secondary school at the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) in Hanoi. Now East Lothian Council has started its recruitment of Mrs Slowther’s successor.

The school, which has more than 1,100 pupils, takes in children from Dunbar Primary School, as well as the primary schools in East Linton, Innerwick, Stenton and West Barns.
The advert notes: “We pride ourselves on being a caring community where all young people can RISE to be their best and our core values of Respect, Inclusion, Support and Effort permeate the life and work of our school.
“We are an inclusive and nurturing school, focused on tackling equity barriers to attainment and improving the attainment of all our students.
“In recent years we have strived to reduce school exclusions, have taken direct steps to reduce the cost of the school day and employ a range of measures to actively support families.”
Interviews for the role, which has a salary of £98,970 per year, will take place towards the end of March.
Mrs Slowther has been at the school since January 2013, becoming headteacher in 2018.
