A BID to add “a little bit of fun and joy to young and old alike” with a slide from the first floor of a home to its garden is being weighed up.

The unusual plans for the property on Gullane’s Saltcoats Road have been lodged with East Lothian Council.

The scheme is looking to create “a small extension” to the front of the building to form “a more welcoming and spacious entrance”.

An external steel and glass staircase is also proposed, alongside “a stainless steel tubular slide, giving access up and down from the terrace to the garden”.

The proposals from Steve Weatherley and Muga Satman Weatherley are currently being considered by the local authority’s planning department.

A planning statement notes that views of the slide would be limited by the existing boundary wall and screening.

It reads: “We are proposing a new glass and steel stair with a stainless steel tubular slide to allow access from the first floor terrace down to the existing garden.

“This provides a more direct access from the main living spaces, without having to go through the main house, with the added benefit of bringing a little bit of fun and joy to young and old alike.

“The materials would be in keeping with the existing stainless steel and glazed balustrades to the terrace.”
