Multiple overnight carriageway closures will be in place on the A1 when BEAR Scotland begins 10 nights of resurfacing works.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to resurface the A1 east of Abbotsview Junction at two locations on the northbound and southbound carriageways.
Ten nights of resurfacing works are scheduled between 7.30pm and 6am each night from February 12 to February 23, with no works planned for Saturday or Sunday nights.
From February 12 to February 16 the southbound carriageway of the A1 will be closed between Abbotsview Junction and Thistly Cross Roundabout during operating hours. A diversion will be in place via the A199, adding approximately 0.1 miles and three minutes to affected journeys.
From February 20 to February 23 the northbound carriageway of the A1 will be closed between Thistly Cross Roundabout and Abbotsview Junction during working hours. A diversion will be in place via the A199, again adding approximately 0.1 miles and three minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the A
“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience.”
