STRONG winds have forced the closure of a section of the A1.
The A1 is shut in both directions between Spott Roundabout and Cockburnspath due to the adverse weather conditions.
Traffic Scotland confirmed that the busy road was closed shortly before 5am today (Monday).

An update on social media at about 7.10am said that the road remained closed in both directions with a diversion in place via the A68.

Meanwhile, East Lothian Council confirmed that all of its recycling centres were initially closed this morning due to high winds.

The recycling facilities at Dunbar, North Berwick and Kinwegar, near Wallyford, re-opened at 9.45am.
The council has also confirmed that Dunbar Primary School’s Lochend Campus is closed to pupils due to a power outage.

The spokesperson for East Lothian Council added later in the morning that the power outage continued and the school campus would remain closed for the remainder of Monday.
Rail services also continue to be affected by the strong winds.
Currently, ScotRail’s website is showing train services from North Berwick into Edinburgh – and in the opposite direction - throughout the day are cancelled.
It is a similar story on the Dunbar line into the Capital, with ScotRail’s website showing the first train at 1.26pm but other services in the afternoon cancelled.

Network Rail Scotland also confirmed that it had removed a fallen tree at East Linton on the East Coast Main Line.
An inspection for debris and damage is being carried out between Berwick and Edinburgh.
