BURNS clubs are getting ready to come together to toast Scotland’s Bard as Burns Night approaches.
Tomorrow evening (Friday), Tranent 25 Burns Club holds its Burns supper from 6pm. The event is for members only.
A Burns supper takes place at the Masonic Hall in Prestonpans on Saturday organised by Thorntree Mystic Burns Club.
The Immortal Memory will be presented by Seton Burns Club’s Iain McLeod, with music from Ross Steele and Kenny Allison as piper.
Tickets £20, with doors opening at 4pm for a 6pm start. Those interested should contact the Thorntree Mystic Burns Club Facebook page.
Elsewhere, history will be made at Haddington Burns Club’s annual gathering in Haddington Bowling Club next Friday (January 26).
Traditionally an all-male event, women are now also able to attend for the first time.

School involved
Also in Haddington, Knox Academy musicians the Goats’ Toes will be playing at the Haddington Probus Club Burns event on Monday.
A spokesperson for the school added: “We are also involved in Our Community Kitchen Burns lunch on Wednesday.
“Our head pupils will MC the event, our depute head pupils will be reading the Selkirk Grace and A Red, Red Rose. We will also have a piper present to greet guests and pipe in the haggis, and the Goats’ Toes will also be playing at the event.”
Meanwhile, The Airts Burns Club’s Burns supper is next Saturday (January 27) at the Prestoungrange Gothenburg in Prestonpans.
Tickets for the event, which opens at 5.30pm for a 6pm start, cost £20 and can be purchased by contacting secretary Andrew Raeburn at amraeburn@outlook.com
On the same evening, an historic Burns supper is served up in North Berwick.
North Berwick Burns Club is toasting its 125th anniversary supper at Marine North Berwick on Cromwell Road.
Tickets are £50 per person for the event, which takes place from 6.30pm. Email NB.BurnsClub@gmail.com
Seton Burns Club is, as usual, holding two Burns suppers. The men’s event is on February 3 and will feature Alan Beck, current Robert Burns World Federation president.
The Lads & Lassies event then follows on February 17 and will feature Peter Pringle, Robert Burns World Federation senior vice-president.
Both suppers are at Cockenzie and Port Seton Royal British Legion.
