THE chair of Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council has thanked members of the public for their help delivering food parcels to those in need over Christmas.

The community council was involved in supporting the Fa’side Festive Provision, organised by the Pennypit Trust and local area partnerships.

The charity launched the initiative to help those in need in the Preston Seton Gosford, Fa’side and Musselburgh council ward areas, providing food to the most vulnerable.

Thanks to support from the community, 508 families received support, including 1,018 children and 35 socially isolated individuals.

Members of the community council played an active role in organising and delivering food to those in the Fa’side area.

Mike Falconer, chair of the group, said: “We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped and volunteered to make the Fa’side Christmas provision happen again this year.

“It was, as always, a spectacular effort from start to finish and there is no doubt it makes an enormous difference to the lives of those in receipt of that support.

“Thank you all.”

Councillor Lee-Anne Menzies, ward member for Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry, also helped organise deliveries and carried out a couple of deliveries herself.

She said: “The whole thing was very well organised and I know the team at Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council were quite involved too.

“People really came together for this and I am glad it was such a success.”
