MORE than £6,500 will be donated to Christian Aid thanks to hard-working volunteers in Haddington.
The Haddington Churches group took part in a range of fundraisers throughout 2023.
Christian Aid Week raised nearly £2,500, with further donations coming through a quiz night, drop-in cafe and garden sale among other events.
A spokesperson for the group highlighted a tartan walk, which raised £1,157, and said: “St Mary’s Walking Group kindly invited Christian Aid supporters to join them on their monthly walk in September, which started at St Mary’s Church and circled to the south of the town.
“Extending to six miles, it took three hours with a rest stop at Amisfield Walled Garden, which was greatly enjoyed.
“We returned along the riverside to Holy Trinity Church where refreshments awaited.
“Thirty-seven people started and most completed the full walk.”
In total, £6,754 was raised, with fundraising events including a quiz and afternoon tea already planned for 2024.
