Musselburgh’s Honest Singers were in fine voice as they raised funds for St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.
They busk every summer and winter, most recently at Musselburgh Primary Care Centre, which houses local GP practices, as well as at a spot on Rose Street in Edinburgh.
They collect for one of their favourite charities, St Columba’s Hospice.
Alison Vasey, a stalwart of the choir scene in Musselburgh and founder of the Honest Singers, is now looking to 2024, with singing sessions being held in the new year.
“Every Saturday in January I will hold a community singing group where everyone is welcome. There are no auditions,” she said.
By the end of the month, there will be an opportunity to join the Honest Singers, although the January singalongs will be a standalone event for the four Saturdays in the month. The sessions will be held in Musselburgh Congregational Church Hall on Links Street, noon-2pm.
The Honest Singers are a well-established group in Musselburgh and are an offshoot of the adult education singing class Alison ran from 2009.
“There was a tremendous amount of goodwill from the members of the Honest Singers to keep the songs alive during and after lockdown,” she said.
Alison can be contacted at 07910 114715 for more information.
