A MUSSELBURGH man has been ordered to pay his neighbour compensation after he smashed their video doorbell.
Jason Whitelaw destroyed the doorbell system by removing the device from its position and stamping on it with his foot on June 3.
Whitelaw pleaded guilty to the vandalism offence during an appearance in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.
He also had a not guilty plea accepted by the Crown to kicking the door of his neighbour at the town’s Burns Wynd.
Sheriff Roderick Flinn sentenced 49-year-old Whitelaw to pay a fine of £180 and said he must pay the homeowner £200 in compensation for the damage he caused to the doorbell.
