A YOUNG dancer from Whitecraig and her partner have won Strictly Kids.

Grace Pattie, 11, a student with the Louise Collie Dance Company (LCDC) in Musselburgh, topped the leaderboard with her partner Cameron Laing, 10, from West Lothian, who attends Laing Edinburgh Dance School.

Funds are raised for a different charity each year and, this year, the Miracle Foundation, which supports children and young people following bereavement, was the chosen recipient.

Grace and Cameron performed a mixture of dances such as the Charleston and cha-cha at DoubleTree by Hilton, Glasgow.

Eleven dancers from LCDC, which is based at Newhailes Business Park, took part in the event.

Owner Louise Collie said: “With 11 dancers competing it was an exciting day, with hair and make-up, then costumes on and into the busy ballroom to show off their skills.”

Grace and Cameron’s dance was a combination of several styles, she explained.

Louise added: “I am over the moon for Grace.

“She is such a dedicated, hard-working girl who will go far in the dance world.

“The other girls and boys demonstrated beautifully their aptitude for different elements of dance.”

Lauren Robertson and Ellie Craig, teachers at LCDC, were coaches at Strictly Kids this year.

Head judge was Eddie Slattery, who, with more than 20 years of dance training and experience, has worked in the cruise, television, theatre and film industries, and on shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, Bridgerton, Matilda and Chicago The Musical.

Other judges were James Smith, aka Mr Fabulous; and Cheryl Wright, who supports and performs in many Scottish ‘Strictly-style’ events.
