AN AWARD-WINNING cheesemonger has added to her trophy haul after being crowned Scottish Business Woman of the Year.
Svetlana Kukharchuk opened The Cheese Lady on Haddington High Street in 2017.
The business’ success saw her move to larger premises on the neighbouring Court Street and also saw her named the regional winner for Scotland at the Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards in Birmingham last year.
Now, at a ceremony in London, she has received the prestigious honour of Scottish Business Woman of the Year at the National Business Women’s Awards.

Svetlana, who lives in Dunbar, was delighted to win the accolade.
She said: “I'm over the moon to be named the Scottish Business Woman of the Year!
“I'd like to dedicate this award to my fantastic team, our loyal customers, as well as our wonderful suppliers and cheesemakers.
“This achievement wouldn't have been possible without their unwavering support and dedication."
The National Business Women's Awards is a prominent event that recognises the exceptional achievements and contributions of women in various industries and businesses across the United Kingdom.
With 21 categories, the competition was fierce, and Svetlana's outstanding accomplishments in the world of cheese retail earned her the well-deserved title.
The mum-of-one told the Courier how she made the trip south with hope rather than expectation.
She said: “I always have hope – it dies last – but I didn’t have any expectations.
“I went with an open mind and it was quite nerve-wracking.
“Of course, I could not believe it when my name was called out.
“All my dreams came true and I was thrilled.”

The Cheese Lady, which currently employs three full-time members of staff and six sub-contractors, has gained a reputation for offering an exceptional selection of farmhouse and artisan cheeses, both in their store in Haddington and online.
The business offers a wide selection of cheeses from throughout Europe, including the UK, Norway, Spain and Switzerland.
Alongside that, Svetlana offers a range of accompaniments, including crackers and drinks.
The Cheese Lady has now been based on Court Street for just over two years and Svetlana was thankful the people of Haddington and East Lothian had got behind the business.
She said: “I had little expectation but always had hope that people would be interested in what I have to offer.
“I was really relieved and delighted there were so many cheese lovers, people open to trying new cheeses locally, and through their support we were able to grow.”
