POLITICIANS have raised a glass to Belhaven Brewery on its double award success.
More than 25 MSPs backed Craig Hoy, South Scotland MSP, and his motion celebrating Scotland’s oldest working brewery.
Belhaven Brewery won both the Visitor Attraction of the Year and Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year (for Fiona Matheson) at the 2023 Icons of Beer Awards.
Mr Hoy, who was previously a member of East Lothian Council, toasted the success alongside Musselburgh’s MSP Colin Beattie, as well as Douglas Ross, leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
The motion reads: “That the Parliament congratulates Belhaven Brewery on winning the Visitor Attraction of the Year award at the 2023 Icons of Beer Awards; further congratulates Fiona Matheson, Belhaven’s brand manager, for winning the Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year award; understands that 2023 is the second consecutive year that the brewery has won the Visitor Attraction of the Year award; recognises that Belhaven Brewery has also won two International Beer Challenge (IBC) awards in 2023 for its brews; further recognises that Belhaven Scottish Ale won silver at the Scottish Beer Awards and received the IBC Bronze Taste Award, and understands that the Belhaven Craft Range won the IBC Gold Design & Packaging Award.”
