GRANTS worth more than £60,000 have helped dozens of community groups throughout Dunbar.
Organisations ranging from the town’s Sea Cadets and Rotary Club to Dunbar Grammar School and Dunbar Music Festival have all benefited from funds given out by Dunbar Community Council.
Alasdair Swan, treasurer of the community council, noted the wealth of organisations and groups that received backing from the community council during the group’s annual general meeting.
He said that grants of £49,000 were awarded from the community benefits fund, while more than £11,000 was paid out of the local priorities fund.
Projects to have benefited through the community benefits fund include swimming platforms at Dunbar Leisure Pool, the restoration of interpretation panels at Dunbar Battery, and funding towards the stone stacking competition held by Dunbar Street Art Trail.
Money from the local priorities fund also benefited Dunbar Trades’ Association’s hanging baskets project, as well as the refurbishment of the 25-pounder gun.
