Pupils at Stenton Primary School got in the Hallowe’en spirit this week, carving pumpkins grown in the school garden.
Children at the school made some creative designs from the pumpkins, some of which had been grown on school grounds. They then made a pumpkin-based three-course meal to enjoy at school with members of the community.
Suzanne Wilson, business administrator at the school, said: “Stenton children have been busy over the last week carving, scooping out and cooking pumpkins - some which were grown in our school garden!
“They then made a three-course meal of pumpkin soup with homemade bread rolls and roasted pumpkins seeds, pumpkin frittata with home-grown rosemary served with a side of roasted pumpkin followed by pumpkin pie with Chantilly cream.
“The children invited members of Stenton Community to enjoy the pumpkin lunch as a way of saying thank you for everything they do to support us. The Primary 3 and 4 children waited on and made sure their guests were well looked after.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and they also got the chance to play outside in the playground with all the children afterwards.
“The leftover pumpkins were then carved and given to the parent council for their Hallowe’en party after school at the village hall”.
