FIREWORKS will light up the sky above East Lothian this weekend for Bonfire Night.
Spectacular displays are planned for a number of towns and villages, including Haddington, Aberlady and Pencaitland, as well as at Gosford House.
Haddington
The Haddington display takes place off the town’s Whittingehame Drive on Saturday. A £2 cash donation is requested for entry, with children under five able to attend free of charge.
A spokesperson for the event encouraged people to go along, with the gates opening at 6.30pm.
They said: “Please try and bring the correct amount with you on the night, then you can drop your money straight into one of the donation buckets at one of the entry gates and go straight in.
“Gates open at 6.30pm, bonfire will be lit at 7pm and fireworks display begins at 7.30pm.
“Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to seeing you all.”
The display has not taken place for four years due to Covid and other challenges.
Meanwhile, there are a trio of displays on Sunday.
Aberlady
In Aberlady, the gates at Foxhills Field open at 5pm for the annual fireworks display and bonfire.
The fireworks are expected to get under way at 6.30pm, and hot food, refreshments and music will also be on offer.
The display is run by Aberlady Primary School Parent Council, with 50 per cent of the profits going to the village’s gala. Tickets are £18 for a family and £6 per person in advance, or £25/£8 if bought on the gate.

Pencaitland

The display gets under way at 6.30pm and anyone looking to attend is being advised to walk there if possible.
Gosford House
Finally, at Gosford House, ‘movie magic’ is the theme for an evening culminating in “a spectacular large-scale professional fireworks display choreographed to much-loved movie music with lights, sky trackers and lasers”.
The display gets under way at 6.30pm.
