MUSSELBURGH'S Over 50’s Club have presented a £1,000 donation to Musselburgh Windsor Football Club’s girls section.
Carol Edmond, organiser of the Over 50s’ Club, said that, with the Women’s World Cup at the forefront of the news this summer, they wanted to support the young footballers.
“Supporting the young is so important,” she added.
Carol, along with Eddie Raven, singer at the Over 50s’ Club, handed over a cheque to the team at its Pinkie training grounds.
Scott Robertson, president of Musselburgh Windsor FC, said: “The Musselburgh Over 50s’ Club is a wonderful organisation that is a power for good in our community.
“During the Women’s World Cup they raised funds by organising a number of events and donated the sum of £1,000 to Musselburgh Windsor FC.
“We will be allocating this money to our youngest girls’ teams to give them the best start in their football journey. We will look to grow our existing 250 female members and ensure we continue to provide the best environment for them to participate in football.
“The club would like to express our sincere gratitude for this substantial and kind donation.”
