An autumn feast of live arts and entertainment is on offer as part of The Brunton’s programme this month.

Although parts of the theatre building in Musselburgh are closed following a roof survey, shows can still be enjoyed at alternative venues such as Loretto School Theatre and Northesk Parish Church, both Musselburgh.

The Brunton Theatre Trust has taken an initial short-term lease on the Corn Exchange in Haddington to trial the venue as a performance space for a range of professional events, from tribute bands to dance, comedy, children’s shows and theatre. During this pilot, they will seek feedback from audiences.

Theatre lovers are in for a treat as London Classic Theatre performs Faith Healer by Brian Friel tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm at Loretto School Theatre.

Through the 1950s and 1960s, Hardy and his wife Grace travel to remote corners of Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Accompanied by manager Teddy, they move from village to village, bringing an unpredictable mix of theatricality and the spiritual.

Artie’s Singing Kettle Halloween Singalong this Saturday at 11am at Loretto School Theatre has sold out.

Loretto School Theatre is also the new home for Midweek Movies and film buffs can enjoy Bolan’s Shoes on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Light-hearted comedy and supernatural chills abound in this story that explores the enduring legacy of childhood trauma and the life-affirming power of music.

The Brunton’s regular visit from Scottish Opera with Opera Highlights takes place at Loretto School Theatre next Saturday (October 28) at 7.30pm.

Flinging four singers and a pianist into familiar setting of a wedding reception, they explore the highs and lows of love in opera. This year’s programme is curated by Derek Clark and includes music from the likes of Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti and Tchaikovsky, as well as a world premiere by Toby Hession.

Director Laura Attridge brings her storytelling to the tour alongside designer Ana Inés Jabares-Pita. The singers are Katy Thomson, Katherine Aitken, Innocent Masuku and Jerome Knox.

The Brunton’s resident children’s theatre company Catherine Wheels Theatre Company perform The Last Forecast by Bridie Gane this Saturday at 4pm at the Corn Exchange, Haddington. The show, about Gail, a gecko-like creature, is recommended for ages six-plus and families.

The Corn Exchange will be rocking to the sound of guitar legends with The Story of Guitar Heroes on Wednesday at 7.30pm, featuring an anthology of the most iconic guitar hits from Jimmy Page, Hank Marvin, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Van Halen and Slash.
