AN 87-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital following a crash on the A1, which saw the road closed for four hours.
The incident took place yesterday (Sunday) afternoon between Dunbar and Cockburnspath.
Traffic Scotland highlighted that the westbound carriageway was closed near Thorntonloch.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

They said: “Around 3pm on Sunday, we were called to a report of a two-car crash on the A1 between Dunbar and Cockburnspath.
“Emergency services attended and an 87-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
“The road was closed for around four hours to allow for investigation.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
The incident was the second major accident on the A1 in East Lothian yesterday.
At about 5am, near the Bankton junction, emergency services were called out following reports of a three-vehicle accident.

Then, a 47-year-old man was taken to hospital.
The road was closed in both directions for an extended period of time and was fully reopened at 10am.
