SPEED checks have been carried out in Wallyford, Whitecraig and Inveresk.
Community police officers visited the three villages on Monday and drivers were praised for “exceptional speed awareness”.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “In addition, PC Carde signalled a car to stop when he was alerted to a loud metallic sound being made against the road.
“A vehicle’s exhaust heat shield had fallen, which was removed so their safe journey could continue. It’s not all about enforcement.
“Thank you for contributing to the safety of our roads.”
