Members of the Dirleton Fete & Games committee have donated £2,000 to North Berwick Kindness Co-operative in recognition of the continuing cost-of-living crisis.
North Berwick Kindness Co-operative supports people struggling financially in the North Berwick Coastal ward, providing foodbank referrals, frozen meals, dried goods, sanitary products, food vouchers for fresh items and pet supplies, and home fuel support.
Miranda Mayes, chair of Dirleton Fete & Games committee, said: “The fete and games is a fun day out but it also has an important role to play in supporting local charities and organisations.
“We’re delighted that another successful year for the event has enabled us to provide continued support to the North Berwick Kindness Co-operative, who play such an important role in supporting local families.”
Katie Reid, community development officer, who accepted the cheque from the fete and games committee treasurer Fred McClintock, added: “The funding support from Dirleton Fete & Games committee is so welcome as the number of people we support continues to grow due to the cost-of-living crisis.
“We will use the funds to continue to provide fresh fruit and vegetables in our parcels, which is so important to families and individuals who are struggling financially.”
