A CALL has been made to allow a holiday home which is “generating significant economic benefits” for the local community to remain in place.

East Lothian Council is considering numerous applications relating to short-term holiday lets across the county.

Angela Latto has outlined to the local authority’s planning department the benefits her property on Gullane’s Stanley Road provides to the area.

The holiday let has been in place since early 2019 and has accommodated “numerous guests”.

Mrs Latto said: “Over the course of more than 200 bookings, I have personally managed all aspects of the rental process, including guest vetting, booking management, and correspondence.

“One of the key benefits of my holiday let is its positive impact on the local economy. I have developed strong relationships with neighbours and local businesses, who have witnessed the increased visitor traffic to the area and benefited from it.

“Furthermore, the majority of my guests prefer to explore the local restaurants, cafés and shops, rather than dine exclusively at the property.

“This helps stimulate local commerce and supports the growth of the community.”

The applicant invited planners to look at feedback and testimonials from guests who had stayed in the two-bedroom property.

No changes are planned to the layout of the building and Mrs Latto, who lives in the county, urged the planning department to give the proposals the go ahead.

She said: “In summary, my holiday let property serves as a net positive for our local community.

“Its operation contributes to the local economy, supports local businesses, and aligns with the interests and activities that attract visitors to our area.”
