THE Musselburgh Community Flower & Craft Show attracted an “amazing turnout” last Saturday.
The annual event in St Michael’s Church Hall was hailed “a resounding success” by Eve Dickinson, president of the organiser, Musselburgh Horticultural Society.
The prizes were presented by society stalwart Karl Cleghorn, who helped organise the show when it was held at Brunton Hall.
Eve said: “There was a fabulous attendance by the local community on what was a beautiful sunny afternoon.
“Our exhibitors put on a fantastic display of homegrown flowers vegetables, fruit, baking and crafts.”
She said there were “many more” entries in the children’s classes this year but only one entry in the children’s radish class.
“That was a disappointment, after our team have provided 200 pots, compost and radish seeds to local children,” she commented.
She added: “The tombola and raffle were very popular and had queues from start to finish, where some super prizes donated by local businesses were won.
“We were extremely fortunate to have volunteers from Musselburgh Sea Cadets to help set up and dismantle our tables and staging, as well as providing trained first aiders.
“The teas were run efficiently by the Bridges Project, with five volunteers and their supervisor.
“We would like to thank everyone that came along and supported Musselburgh Horticultural Society.
“We would also like to thank our judges, John Fowler, Alison Brand, Andrew Hogarth and Rosemary Turner.”
She added: “We want even more people to enter exhibits in the show, and volunteers to help in the weeks running up to the show would also be greatly appreciated, as it will reduce the workload of the committee.
“If people enjoyed exhibiting and would be willing to volunteer at future events or join our committee, they can contact me at musselburghhorticulturalsociety@hotmail.com”
