FIREFIGHTERS have been praised after getting to a Gullane bar and restaurant before a blaze spread.
Emergency crews were called out to The Old Clubhouse shortly before 9am this morning (Tuesday).
Dominic Campanile, general manager at the premises, revealed things could have been a lot worse.
He said: "It was a faulty boiler in our KP section in the kitchen.
"Thankfully, we had staff on site and it did not happen during the night.
"The fire brigade were there very promptly and I cannot praise them enough.
"It was brought under control with a lot less damage than might have been and nobody was hurt.
"There is no visible damage – they were there that quick it did not spread to the roof.
"Another half an hour and I would not have had a pub to go along to."
The restaurant at the premises on the village's East Links Road remained closed on Tuesday but the bar was able to open.
Mr Campanile was "fairly confident" that the restaurant could reopen tomorrow (Wednesday).
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the premises at about 8.55am.
They said: "Operations control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene, where firefighters extinguished a fire in a kitchen.
"There were no reported casualties and crews left at 12.31pm after ensuring the area was safe."
