TWO brothers from Ormiston will be taking on the UK’s highest mountain to raise money for three charities.

Jordan and Daniel Allan, who work as funeral directors for M&F Funeral Services, in Musselburgh, will climb Ben Nevis on September 9.

The duo have so far raised more than £2,000, which will go towards The Hollies Community Hub & Café, in Musselburgh, which provides services for elderly people in the community; Edinburgh-based Held In Our Hearts, which provides baby loss counselling; and Primrose Day Centre, in Ormiston, which provides care for the elderly and vulnerable.

Jordan told the Courier: “We wanted to do something to support these charities which are close to both our hearts.

“These groups need the support of donations and could not function without them and we hope to just be a small part in supporting them.”

Jordan and Daniel previously teamed up to tidy up county cemeteries.

The brothers, who are originally from Ormiston, have set up a Just Giving page ahead of the climb.

Jordan said: “Any donations would be really welcomed from people. We know times are tough at the moment and we are just trying to do our bit to help people.

“We know it is going to be tough. I’ve been told there are two routes on the climb; one is a little more challenging.

“We want to do the harder one to make it more of a challenge. We’ve been trying to prepare and we feel ready.”
