A departing staff member at Tranent's Aldi was given a bizarre leaving gift when co-workers wrapped her car in cling film.
Staff at the store got together to play a prank on departing deputy manager and former store assistant Kira who is switching to the Haddington store.
Kira's car was wrapped several times in industrial 'stretch wrap' or similar material with the wing mirrors and front of the car totally covered.
Claire Wilson, Kira's colleague, told the Courier: “This car is owned by a much-loved and key member of our management team Kira, who is moving onto our Haddington store due to progression.
“She will be much-missed by all of our colleagues and customers. Hopefully we will see her back in our store doing a new role sometime in the future. A little joke to send her on her way!"
Claire said Kira, who has worked at the store for three years, was first to begin the high jinks when she filled another departing colleague's car with balloons.
She said: "Kira started with it last week when another manager was leaving to become store manager in an Edinburgh store. His car was filled with balloons and post it notes along with being wrapped."
The car was photographed by a passer-by who had been understandably confused by the bizarre sight.
The passer-by had visited the shop to pick up flowers on her way to Aberlady when she saw the car wrapped in the material.
