AN ICONIC North Berwick hotel has gone on the market for offers over £2.25 million.

Nether Abbey Hotel, on Dirleton Avenue, is owned by Stirling Stewart and his wife Jela, and has been a family-run business for over 60 years.

The Nethers, as it is affectionately known, has 12 en suite bedrooms overlooking the Firth of Forth and North Berwick West Links, catering for guests from all over the world.

The hotel also hosts the Fly Half Bar and Restaurant, which opens onto a patio area that can host up to 70 diners, proving popular with tourists and locals alike.

The couple also own The Rocketeer restaurant and the Lobster Shack, which have become well-known to locals and visitors to North Berwick.

Property firm Graham + Sibbald are bringing the hotel to market after the owners decided to retire from the hotel trade.

Mr Stewart had listed the hotel for sale last summer, for offers over £2.6m with Christie & Co, but it did not sell.

Alistair Letham, a hotel and leisure consultant with Graham + Sibbald, said: “The sale of the Nether Abbey Hotel provides a wonderful opportunity to buy a quality four-star hotel business in a sought-after location, with an impressive established local, national and international client base.

"The Nether Abbey Hotel is truly that of a 'turn-key' 'walk-in' property and business.”

Graham + Sibbald are inviting “offers over £2,250,000” for the Nether Abbey Hotel.
