Two cash boosts have helped to buy kitchen equipment and fuel for the minibus at the Hollies Community Hub in Musselburgh.

The High Street facility, which has a public cafe and provides services for older people, has received £3,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund and £500 from Localgiving and People’s Postcode Trust.

The money from the National Lottery Community Fund has been used to buy a new oven and drinks cooler.

“This is much appreciated both by staff and customers,” said Liz Shannon, manager of the Hollies.

The grant aid from the Localgiving and People’s Postcode Trust will pay for fuel for the hub’s minibus for the next six months.

Ms Shannon said: “Our bus is a vital resource for people to attend our lunch club.

“The bus picks people up from their homes with an escort to bring members in for lunch or a snack and take them home again.

“It is particularly valuable for those with mobility difficulties or those some way from public transport routes.”

Ms Shannon expressed her gratitude to the two funders.

Katie Still, Scotland chair of the National Lottery Community Fund, said: “National Lottery funding can make amazing things happen in local communities across the country.

“This project delivered by the Hollies Community Hub is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others. National Lottery players can be proud to know that the money they raise is helping to support this vital work which is making a real difference to so many.”
