A public consultation takes place at Cockenzie House and Gardens to highlight plans to build a battery substation to the south of the village.
The bid is being led by consultants Pegasus Group, and the consultation event comes prior to an official planning application to help gather public opinion before a submission is made.
A Pegasus Group spokesperson said of the proposal: “The proposed battery storage energy facility would provide a significant contribution to the energy storage targets in the timescales necessary to contribute to the UK’s progress in meeting its renewable energy targets.
“It would also provide rapid-response electrical back-up to the Scottish Power transmission, providing a flexible system to balance energy supply and demand.”
It would be located on farm land south of Inglis Farm, south east of the former Cockenzie Power Station site.
The consultation event will give residents a chance to meet members of the Pegasus team in person and discuss the proposals.
Plans will be available to view, with county planning officials also on had to answer questions.
The consultation will take place on Thursday, June 1 in the Willow Room at Cockenzie House and Gardens, between 3pm and 7pm.
A second exhibition will be held prior to an application being submitted to the Energy Consents Unit and details will be circulated in due course.
