AN AWARD recognising efforts to transform a village hall has been presented.
Residents of West Barns gathered in the village hall on Sunday for a coronation afternoon tea.
During the afternoon, the West Barns Community Council Cup was handed over to Ola Wojtkiewicz, who was previously chairwoman of the West Barns Village Hall committee.
Andrew Ashton, chairman of the community council, noted that in her 10 years at the helm of the group, Ola had turned the building around from being at the point of closing its doors for good to a vibrant community hub.
The cup was handed to Ola by last year’s winners, Paul and Harvinder Gautam.
Ola was also presented with an engraved quaich and flowers.
