UPDATE: X-RATED DISPLAY TURNED INTO SMILEY FACE
A "rude" image took locals by surprise in North Berwick this morning as it appeared on one of the town's most famous landmarks.
North Berwick Law, the volcanic outcrop on the south of the town, was seen with the shape of a large penis drawn onto the side of the hill.
It is unknown who is responsible for the drawing, but some have speculated online that it may have been schoolchildren playing a prank.
An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We're aware of this activity and Countryside Rangers will shortly inspect this location to assess the issue.”
The image also garnered some attention online as people took to Twitter to share the photo.
