FISHERROW Harbour witnessed 32 boats being craned in for the summer season, with Osprey the first yacht into the water.
Stuart Rillie, Fisherrow Harbour & Seafront Association (FHSA) harbour manager, said: “We craned in slightly earlier than usual this year due to tidal constraints and, if the wind was excessive, we had a fall back day of later in April.
“After a bit of a slow and slightly breezy start to the day, the wind dropped and we successfully got all the boats lifted in.
“With more boats than before being lifted out, it was a bit of a challenge finding a space on the beach for them all but, with some careful planning, we managed.
“Last year, we [FHSA] bought some picnic benches and put them where the boats go for the winter and they were very popular and well used, even in the winter, so we have bought more to be put round the harbour area where the boats were before they were craned back in.”
He added: “Now that the boats are back in the harbour, full attention is being given to the annual harbour festival, which takes place on Saturday, May 20, 1-5pm.
“There will be live music, stalls, emergency vehicles, kids’ rides, vintage fishing boats, the lifeboat and much more.”
