Police Scotland is looking for volunteers to help work with young people.

Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV) is looking to add members to its group. The role is a rewarding one for adults who are kind and like working with young people, who can act as a positive role model, assess risks and act responsibly in public while supporting the group.

PSYVs are groups of up to 24 young people based across Scotland. They are supported by adult volunteers and led by a police constable or other community leader. They volunteer at community and national events.

The PSYV programme aims to strengthen the relationship with the police and young people, break down barriers and promote positive role models.

Adult volunteers must be at least 18 and be able to dedicate a minimum of three hours per month for volunteering events.

Each adult volunteer will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG).

The East Lothian group meets every Friday in Musselburgh from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, and opportunities are available for supporting the group when volunteering in the community.

Anyone interested in joining can visit psyv.org and click on the adult volunteer section for more information.
