The most popular baby names in East Lothian in 2022 have been announced by the National Records of Scotland.
The list has revealed the most popular baby names for each council area as part of the study.
Here are the top 11 most popular names in the county last year and their name origins.
Findlay – 11 babies
Eleven babies were named Findlay in 2022 in East Lothian making this the most popular name in the county.
Originating in Celtic language, Findlay is primarily used in English and Scottish and means "fair warrior".
Brodie – 10 babies
In joint second place on the list is Brodie with 10 newborns being given the name.
With Irish and Scottish origins, Brodie is often used as a surname. However, has been popularised as a first name in recent years.
Isla – 10 babies
Ten babies were named Isla in East Lothian in 2022 with it being the joint top girl name in the county.
Isla is a feminine given name traditionally of Scottish origin and is derived from "Islay", an island off the west coast of the country.
Alexander – 10 babies
Alexander is the Latin variant of the Greek name Alexandros, meaning "defender of men". The name is most famously associated with Alexander the Great and has been popular amongst Scots for many years.
Ten babies were named Alexander in East Lothian in 2022.
Ivy – 10 babies
The last name in joint second place and joint first in girl names is Ivy with ten babies named Ivy in East Lothian last year.
The name has English and Latin origins and means "vine." It's derived from the Old English word for the ivy plant, "ifig."
Lewis – 9 babies
There were nine babies named Lewis in East Lothian last year with the name amongst the most popular in the county.
The name has differing origins with many claiming it has both Welsh and English heritage. However, the name has remained popular across the UK for many years.
Jack – 9 babies
Also with nine babies in the county, Jack is the second most common baby name in Scotland, having only been overtaken by Noah in 2022.
342 babies were named Jack in Scotland in 2022, nine of which were from East Lothian.

Oliver – 8 babies
Next on the list is Oliver with eight babies being named Oliver in East Lothian last year.

Aria – 8 babies
With eight babies named Aria in East Lothian last year, it was amongst the most popular in the county.

Last on the list is Freya, also with eight babies given the name in East Lothian.
Of Scandinavian origin and derived from Freyja, it means "noble lady" and shares its namesake with the mythical Freya, goddess of fertility, love, and beauty.
