NOMINATIONS for a celebration of community champions in health, well-being and sport throughout the south of Scotland are being invited.
Winners of the awards will be taken on a guided tour of the Scottish Parliament.
The event is being organised by South Scotland MSP Craig Hoy, who was previously a councillor for the Haddington and Lammermuir ward on East Lothian Council.
Mr Hoy said: “It is important to recognise local community champions who have played a pivotal role supporting people in East Lothian in difficult circumstances.
“The Covid pandemic, followed by rising living costs, has been very challenging for many people.
“I hope that I can help to highlight the strengths of our community heroes and the fantastic work they have been doing to support those most in need.”
The politician took part in a parliament-held local heroes competition in 2021, selecting Blooming Haddington volunteer Rab Moran to attend the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament as his official guest.
All nominees were later invited by Mr Hoy to attend a reception in the Scottish Parliament.
This year, successful nominees of the community champion contest will again be invited to Holyrood.
Nominations for the competition, which close on April 14, can be made via craighoy.co.uk/nominate-your-community-champion
