A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and charged with road traffic offences after an "eagle-eyed" member of the public spotted him allegedly stumbling while trying to replace a wheel.
The man was reported to police as "acting suspiciously" at Strawberry Corner Garden Centre in Wallyford at about 11pm yesterday evening.
Dunbar Road Police then traced the vehicle, administering a breath test which the driver allegedly failed.
The motorist also allegedly provided false information to police as he had allegedly been disqualified from driving.
The driver was held by police and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11.10pm on Tuesday, March 14, to a report of driver acting suspiciously at Strawberry Corner Garden Centre near Wallyford on the A199.
“Officers attended and the driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.
"He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, March 15."
