A local business is looking to expand by creating a new MOT facility.
Car maintenance firm GR Autocare currently operates from a rural building, called Turkeytorium, between Fenton Barns and Drem.
Now, John Gray & Partners has applied to East Lothian Council’s planning department to turn an agricultural building into a car maintenance/MOT service facility.
The building, at East Fenton Farm, is 2.5 kilometres from the company’s current site.
Tony Thomas, from APT Planning & Development, stressed there would be no physical changes to the building if the plans were approved.
There would also be no public access to the site, as cars would be brought to the building from the main garage.
He said: “This application represents an opportunity for a local business to improve and increase the service it offers by moving the MOT testing element to this existing building at East Fenton Farm.
“There will be no public access and very limited traffic between the application site and the GR Autocare site at Turkeytorium, between Fenton Barns and Drem.”
