A TRANENT man has appeared in court accused of assaulting his partner by urinating on her.
David Thomson appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, where he lodged a not guilty plea to the alleged offence.
Thomson is alleged to have assaulted the woman by making derogatory remarks to her and repeatedly slapping her on the head during an alleged incident on January 31 this year.
The 40-year-old is also claimed to have urinated on the woman’s body during the alleged attack at an address at Carlaverock Avenue in Tranent.
Fiscal depute Christine Brownlie told the court that the Crown was currently instructing an expert on the case but was not in a position to proceed without their input.
Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss granted Thomson bail and handed him several restrictions, including not to approach or contact the woman and not to enter Carlaverock Avenue until the case resolves.
Thomson, of Young Avenue, will return to court to stand trial in May.
