SERIAL motoring offender Steven Cull has been jailed for just under a year and banned from driving for 10 years after he was found guilty of dangerous driving.
Cull, of Brierbush Road, Macmerry, drove his black Audi dangerously by tailgating a driver and attempting to overtake in the path of oncoming vehicles.
Cull also forced a motorcyclist to swerve to avoid a collision during his erratic road manoeuvre at the A6094 in Rosewell, Midlothian, in June 2021.
The 24-year-old was also found to be behind the wheel of the Audi while serving a previously imposed driving ban and having no valid insurance for the vehicle.
Cull denied the allegations and stood trial over three days at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last year. Following the evidence being heard, the verdict was deferred to last Monday.
Sheriff Alistair Noble said that he was accepting the evidence of motorist Douglas Sutherland, who had testified that it was Cull he had seen driving the Audi dangerously on June 7, 2021.
Mr Sutherland had told the court he had looked in his mirror “six times” and was confident in his identification of the driver.
Cull was not arrested at the time of the offences but was picked up by officers at his home about one week later.
Sheriff Noble said that he was finding Cull guilty of all four charges and he was told he was currently serving a 10-year driving ban and an eight-month jail term after admitting a separate dangerous driving charge last month.
On that occasion, Cull pleaded guilty to driving dangerously through several streets in Prestonpans on January 22 this year.

Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss sentenced Cull to an eight-month custodial sentence and handed out a 10-year driving ban for the January offence.
Last Monday, Sheriff Noble jailed Cull for a further 11 months, which is to run consecutively to his current sentence, and issued Cull with another 10-year road ban.
The sheriff added that Cull must sit and pass the extended during test if he wants to drive again.
Cull was found guilty of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance and failing to give police officers the proper details of who was driving his vehicle on June 7, 2021.
