A state school in East Lothian has been named among the best in Scotland by The Sunday Times in a new prestigious list.

The Parent Power Guide lists schools across the country to find the very best on offer for parents.

This was done by looking at the first set of post-pandemic exam results to determine the best state and independent schools.

This year's list saw two East Lothian schools ranked among the best in the Lothians with one making it into the country's Sunday Times top 20.

East Lothian state school named among the best in Scotland for 2023 by The Sunday Times

The East Lothian school named among the best in Scotland was North Berwick High School.

The state secondary school was named number 15 on a list of the top 100 based on its good exam results.

The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide found that 33% of pupils pass two or more advanced higher, ranking the school the 10th best in this field.

Both North Berwick High School and Dunbar Grammar School were found to be among the highest ranking across East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian.

Dunbar Grammar School was ranked 36 in Scotland with 65% of its pupils achieving five or more highers, making it the joint 18th best for this.
