A PERSON moving to Haddington got in touch with the town’s community council to check when a railway station would be in place.
The unusual question was highlighted during the group’s most recent meeting.
Morgwn Davies, secretary of Haddington and District Community Council, said: “I had a query about the train station and if it was imminently opening.”
The town’s railway station was off Hospital Road and closed to passengers in 1949.
The station then closed to freight trains in 1968. Campaign group RAGES (Rail Action Group East of Scotland) has long-term ambitions to see the station returning but is unclear where it would be situated in the town.
