A LACK of funding is holding up plans to create a footpath on a narrow Haddington road.
Discussions took place last year in a bid to create a pedestrian link off Tynebank Road following concerns about pedestrian safety.
East Lothian Council, which has been in talks with Haddington and District Community Council and Haddington Athletic Football Club, held a public consultation last year to gauge views from members of the public.
A path – adjacent to Haddington Athletic’s Millfield ground – could run the length of Tynebank Road, with a crossing created as it joins Mill Wynd.

However, a spokeswoman for East Lothian Council said the project was currently on hold.
She told the Courier: “Both the path and the crossing are part of a Tynebank Road improvement project. All stakeholders have agreed the projects in principle and we have identified a consultant to carry out the design work.
“At the moment, though, this project is paused due to funding but it will be prioritised once the funding position becomes clearer, possibly in the next financial year.”
