The A1 has closed in both directions following a road traffic accident just over the county boundary this morning.
The crash, which involved a truck and a lorry, took place around 3.30am between the Ayton and Coldingham junctions (near Eyemouth) in the Scottish Borders.
Motorists travelling to and from East Lothian are being advised to use an alternative route at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving a truck and a lorry on the A1 north of Eyemouth, around 3.30am on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance.
"The road is closed and diversions are in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
Police remain on scene and are directing traffic, but no estimated re-opening time has been announced.
Traffic Scotland provided an update at 1pm on Twitter that said: "The A1 remains CLOSED in both directions between Ayton and Coldingham due to a road traffic incident.
"Police remain on scene and directing traffic, with no estimated time for the road re-opening."
