Gary Anderson has crashed out of the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship following a 4-1 defeat to Englishman Chris Dobey last night.
Anderson, of Musselburgh, claimed the PDC title in 2015 and 2016 and returned to the Alexandra Palace in hopes of securing a hat-trick of world titles.
He was also in search of his 50th win at the Alexandra Palace but he would come unstuck by Dobey.
It was the first time Anderson had exited the tournament at the third round stage since 2014, but things started well for him as he took a 1-0 lead.
However, accurate darts from Dobey won out as he romped to a 4-1 victory and a place in the fourth round.
