ScotRail has suspended all trains between North Berwick and Edinburgh today due to damage to the overhead power supply on the track.

Major repairs are needed to the overhead powerline at Prestonpans which Network Rail says is unlikely to be fixed until 8pm. 

All train services from North Berwick to Edinburgh are cancelled today while work is being carried out by Network Rail to fix the issue.

This will also impact people travelling from Drem, Longniddry, Prestonpans, Wallyford and Musselburgh. 

The last bus leaving Edinburgh to North Berwick will be at 16.40 with the last bus leaving North Berwick at 17.30.

The train service is running replacement bus services between Edinburgh and North Berwick and customers can use tickets on these services.

Customers can use their tickets and smartcards on Lothian Buses services 26, 30, 44 and 45 between Edinburgh, Musselburgh, Wallyford and Prestonpans.

ScotRail previously announced that it would be running one train per hour between North Berwick and Edinburgh until Sunday as RMT strike action has impacted its services.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail head of customer operations, said: “We’re sorry to customers who have experience disruption to their journey as a result of damage to the overhead line equipment between Edinburgh and North Berwick.   

“Anyone who’s been delayed by 30 minutes or more as a result of this incident is entitled to claim compensation through our Delay Repay Guarantee. Just keep a hold of your ticket and claim on the ScotRail website or mobile app.”
