SCHOOLS across East Lothian could temporarily close as part of strike action from teachers.
All nurseries, primary and secondary schools shut their doors last Thursday due to confirmed strike action by EIS (Educational Institute of Scotland) and AHDS (Association of Headteachers and Deputes in Scotland).
The Scottish Secondary Teachers Association (SSTA) has also announced planned strike action for its members on Wednesday and next Thursday (December 8), while a third union (NASUWT) has voted to walk out on these same dates, but it remains unknown if these will force school closures in East Lothian.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “We are assessing the impacts of strike action on these dates on individual schools and year groups and will be communicating with families as soon as we can.”
