Tranent and Elphinstone community councillors reflected on remembrance services held in the area at their latest monthly meeting.
Community councillors praised the people of Tranent and Elphinstone for showing up in high numbers to pay respects to those who have died in war.
Mike Falconer, community council chairman, said: “What a lovely service it was [in Tranent]. To see so many people in attendance in the parade was wonderful and the support shown by the community is great.”
The meeting concluded that there were around 200 people who took part in the parade in Tranent, with around 100 in Elphinstone.
Mr Falconer highlighted some concerns about stewarding issues in Tranent, noting that a few people in vehicles tried to access areas that were closed off.
He said: “It’s a difficult position to be put in as a steward when you’re faced with a situation like that. On the day, almost everyone was respectful and did not try to use the closed off road but when you’re faced with people who are trying to do so it is difficult to stop them.”
